The possibilities are endless…the ROI? Priceless

As part of our corporate mission, we give back. We present to industry groups and associations. We contribute to panels and networking events. We coach countless individuals who we won’t ever place but who need some honest advice.   And my personal favorite – we shop.  That’s right. At holiday time, we shop.

For the past several years we’ve sponsored families from a local day care center that serves the working poor. It’s a simple, hands on process. The director identifies hardworking families who need a hand. We get a list of ages, sizes and interests and off we go. For me it’s about the sheer pleasure of sharing the gift of giving with a hardworking mom or dad who’s worried about stretching their funds to cover winter utility bills AND the holiday. It’s about remembering some of my childhood Christmas mornings and hoping to make some kid’s day just as special. And most importantly, it’s a way to say “Thanks” for all I’ve been given.

2009 has been a tough year for many of us, and it’s been much harder for some than others.  We may not be able to fix the world but we can all make an impact in our own backyards.  So look around – there are lots of ways to give – donate to a local cause, adopt a family, slip a gas card to an unemployed friend or neighbor. The possibilities are endless….and the ROI? Priceless.
